On Friday, 16th May 2025, Hope Fostering Services headed up to Manchester for the annual ‘Stars of Children and Young People Awards’. We were so delighted that Marc, one of our incredible foster parents, had been shortlisted for the ‘Fantastic Foster Carer Award’. The black tie awards ceremony was hosted by Ryan Thomas (of Coronation Street and Big Brother fame!) and the prestigious event was held at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly. The focus of the awards is to ‘shine a light on the stars of children and young people, paying tribute to the workforce who, through dedication and a commitment to care, go above and beyond to support those who are most vulnerable’.
Aston, a SSW at Hope, wrote: ‘Foster carers are the unsung heroes of our communities—opening their hearts and homes to children who need safety, love, and stability during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Every day, they provide more than just a roof over a young person’s head—they offer reassurance, patience, and an unwavering commitment to helping young people heal, grow, and thrive. That’s why celebrating foster carers isn’t just important—it’s essential.
Foster carers are called upon to do an incredibly difficult job. From navigating complex emotional needs to working with social workers, schools, and birth families, the role of a foster carer can be challenging and demanding. Many foster carers go above and beyond, often without the public recognition they deserve. Celebrating their commitment is a powerful way to acknowledge the difference they make every single day.
Marc is one of our exceptional foster carers at Hope Fostering, who was recently shortlisted for the “Fantastic Foster Carer” Award and proudly came in 2nd place. The award ceremony was a prestigious black-tie event held in Manchester, attended by several social workers who’ve seen first-hand the incredible work Marc does daily. It was an emotional and proud moment for everyone involved—a well-deserved recognition of dedication, compassion, and resilience.
When we celebrate foster carers—whether through events, awards, or storytelling—we shine a light on the fostering journey and its rewards. This not only boosts morale among current foster families but also encourages others in the community to consider fostering themselves. Sharing real stories of compassion and resilience, like Marc’s, inspires others and shows that fostering can be tough but also deeply rewarding’.
We are delighted to share that Marc achieved Highly Commended, and this is what was shared: “Marc provided a safe, magical home for two frightened children experiencing care for the first time. His therapeutic, playful approach brought joy and comfort over Christmas, helping them feel seen and understood. Marc supported family reunification with empathy and patience, making a lasting, life-changing impact through his warmth and dedication.”
At Hope Fostering, we are proud to work alongside such dedicated, compassionate individuals. Thank you CYP Stars for helping to showcase the incredible work that foster families do.
Thank you to every foster carer out there. Your work is vital, your love is powerful, and your impact is lasting.
