Some of the most frequent questions we are asked include ‘who can foster’ and ‘can I foster’? We are a diverse and inclusive agency and our foster families come from a variety of ethic groups, cultures and backgrounds. Our non-negotiable requests include your ability to love a vulnerable young person, advocate for them and listen to them. Age, sexuality, marital status, gender do not determine how suitable you are to be a foster parent.
There are many misconceptions regarding who could be a foster parent. We have specialist advisors who can talk through your unique situation over the phone before an initial home visit.
The initial questions we will ask are:
- Are you over 21?
- Do you have a spare room?
- Do you have the time to open your home and heart to a young person?
- Are you a full time resident in the UK (or have indefinite leave to remain)?
