In 2023, the Department for Education published that 100,437 children were in the care system. 70% of these young people are living with foster families. The number of children needing a stable home continues to rise year on year – the statistics are shocking.
We are all hearing promises from every political party during the lead up to the General Election on 4th July 2024. We are need them to focus on the crisis in foster care.
The Fostering Network has written a manifesto asking political parties to:
- Focus on care experienced children and young people
- Support fostering families
- Invest and reform in the wider system supporting care experienced children and young people
Hope Fostering Services supports this and we encourage you to find out more and see what you could do to help.
